Today I had to go to the post office to send out a few items I sold on eBay. While I was out I figured I would go to the recycle shop that's near by. You know the one I really like that has the good deals and what not. However when I got there it was closed, ha boo. Then I decided to go to the store to get more packing envelops as I had run out. I was able to pick up a bunch and also got a really big one that I will try with the Neo Geo AES game when I have to ship it. Hopefully It will be big enough to hold that massive case and cart.
I had planned to stop somewhere and get something to eat but when the time came I just wasn't really that hungry so I just decided to go home. When I got close to my house I decided I would take a look at the recycle shop on the corner. I had gone there about 3 weeks ago or so so really wasn't expecting to find anything.
I went to the back to see if they had any new hardware, consoles, controllers etc. This was the place where I got the clear orange clear black N64 controller that I ended up selling for $120. No such luck this time so I started to walk back to the front and got about half way there (about 5 ft away lol) when a small book case caught my eye. It was kind of hidden, you could only see it on your way out from the back not the way in. It was a small bookcase only about 3~4 feet tall and had 3 shelves, each with only one item each. Anyway, what caught my eye was a box on the center shelf, it was a boxed Saturn Stunner the light gun for the Saturn. As this only works on old CRT TVs I wasn't that interested it was just the logo that jumped out at me. Below it was a nice Hori PS2 arcade stick in the box but again nothing I really need. Then I glanced to the top shelf and was stunned to see this box.
Are you kidding me, okay, okay unless you are a Saturn freak like me you may be saying "Okay, its just another Saturn. I mean yea its in the box but big deal.". Normally you would be right except this was no ordinary Saturn console, this was the very rare clear or skeleton designed system and it was in the box. I took a peek inside to make sure it actually had the clear system inside and wasn't just the box, it was all good it even had the clear controller. The controller alone goes for about $30~$50, and this system in the box with this controller will get about $300-$700. So I was also very happy to see a price tag of only $20. If you remember, thats actually $5 less then the boxed Super Famicom (SNES) I bought at this same shop.
When I got home I tested it out and it worked perfectly, here is me testing it with Pocket Fighter.
I think its really cool how you can see the game inside when its not spinning, aka off.
The only issue was that the controller somehow had gotten the start button partially sheered off. At first I was bummed but then I remembered that odd colored Saturn controller I bought awhile back thinking it might be rare, that one turned out to be a bust though. However it also had the same colored start button. So I grabbed it and got to work opening them up for the transplant.
here you can see the two buttons side by side.
Success, here is the before and after shot.
The system itself tells the story, "This is Cool"... indeed.
Nice man. That's a rare find. You think youre gonna sell it or keep it and let the value grow?
ReplyDeletei really don't know, originally i only ever wanted the white model. but maybe thats because i was never going to pay $500 for the skeleton one. now that i have it it looks really good but I'm still using the white one. Im undecided at the moment so i will hold on to it for a little while anyway.
