Moving Day

Look out world!

There were still some last minute things that I needed to get done, so the other day me and my wife made some stops while we were out. The first stop was at the AT&T store to see if we could get our phones unlocked so that we could use them while in Japan. The clerk told me that we would be able to do so but that we would need to call a service number as they do not do it in stores anymore. After talking with a rep on the phone I got nowhere and was told I would have to wait till my current contract was up, something I figured but was hoping to get around. The next stop was to AAA to get our international drivers permits. I was in trouble because I didn't know that we would be getting our pictures taken and my wife was not "prepared" for a picture to be taken. People kept asking me if I was excited about moving and the answer to that is yes, however that does not mean that I was excited for moving day. We had to pack everything and make sure the weight was correct, apparently I am useless at packing and a lot of the credit for that has to go to my wife.

I had attempted to get an unlock code online the night before we were to leave and of course had to unpack my computer to try it out. It took longer than my wife would have liked but the unlock code did work, after I get a sim card in Japan I will fully test it out and if all is good I will unlock my wife's phone as well. We got everything loaded into the car said some quick goodbyes and left for the airport.

The coolest window ever.

This is the part that I was not so excited about our first flight was at 1pm so we got to the airport around 11. The first flight was going to be 14hrs and was direct from Boston to Tokyo on a new 787 air plane. when we got on the plane I was surprised to see we had awesome seats the leg room was like that of business class or something like that, even with my legs fully extended at a 90 degree angle I could not touch the wall in front of me. We had our personal entertainment units so we could watch movies, read books, or play games. I watched a few movies, the new Star Trek, Iron Man 3 and 42. The coolest part of the plane was the windows, there are no shades instead you press a button that adds a tint to the window slowly blacking it out. Also during one of the meals we got a mini haagen-dazs ice cream which was pretty cool.

When we landed in Tokyo we had to go though immigration which was fine, they didn't even ask how long I was staying or why I was going to be there. Then we had to grab our bags and head for our domestic flight. The only issue was that we had a 4hr layover, we found a spot that we were able to get some sleep but later some people sat across from us. I thought the place must have been filling up thats why these, very talkative and loud, people were so close but once I got up I realized the room was empty and they just chose to sit next to people trying to sleep.

Our gate number was 66, nice penguin connection there. We got on the plane around 7:30 and headed for Fukuoka. Once we landed we met up with my wifes mother and headed for there house. We got in around 10:30 and talk for a bit but I soon made my way to bed. Next step, getting my visa changed.
